Clearing the Browser Cache: Guide for the Most Popular Browsers (Desktop and Mobile)

The browser cache stores temporary data to load websites faster. However, it may sometimes need to be cleared, such as for display issues or troubleshooting. Here’s a guide for the most popular browsers on desktop and mobile devices (as of April 2025).

Google Chrome

Desktop

  1. Click the three dots (menu) in the top right corner.
  2. Go to Settings > Privacy and Security.
  3. Select Clear browsing data.
  4. Choose a time range (e.g., "All time") and check Cached images and files.
  5. Click Clear data.

Mobile (Android/iOS)

  1. Tap the three dots (menu, top right).
  2. Go to Settings > Privacy and Security.
  3. Select Clear browsing data.
  4. Check Cached images and files and select a time range.
  5. Tap Clear data (Android) or Clear browsing data (iOS).

Mozilla Firefox

Desktop

  1. Click the three lines (menu) in the top right corner.
  2. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll to Cookies and Site Data and click Clear Data.
  4. Select Cached Web Content.
  5. Confirm with Clear.

Mobile (Android/iOS)

  1. Tap the three dots or lines (menu).
  2. Go to Settings > Delete browsing data.
  3. Check Cache (other options optional).
  4. Tap Delete browsing data and confirm.

Microsoft Edge

Desktop

  1. Click the three dots (menu) in the top right corner.
  2. Go to Settings > Privacy, Search, and Services.
  3. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
  4. Select Cached images and files and a time range.
  5. Click Clear now.

Mobile (Android/iOS)

  1. Tap the three dots (menu, bottom or top).
  2. Go to Settings > Privacy and Security.
  3. Select Clear browsing data.
  4. Check Cached images and files and choose a time range.
  5. Tap Clear.

Safari

Desktop (Mac)

  1. Open Safari and click Safari > Preferences in the top left.
  2. Go to the Privacy tab.
  3. Click Remove All Website Data.
  4. Confirm the action.

Mobile (iOS)

  1. Open the Settings app (not Safari directly).
  2. Scroll to Safari.
  3. Tap Clear History and Website Data (clears cache, history, and cookies) or go to Advanced > Website Data to remove cache specifically.
  4. Confirm with Clear.

The steps may slightly vary depending on the version, operating system, or updates. Keep your browser updated for optimal performance and security. Your cache is now cleared on both desktop and mobile!
