Clubs at chessmail

In a club you play with people you know or would like to get to know. That can be your chess club, a group of friends or simply players who met in the forum. Every club has its own forum, its own tournaments, rankings and its own pages.

Joining a club

You find the clubs at chessmail under All clubs. If you like one, click Become a member on its page and an admin of the club will accept you. You can be a member of one club, but as a guest you can read and write along in as many clubs as you like.

Founding a club

You can found your own club once you have been with chessmail for at least 30 days and have played 30 rated correspondence games. You pick a name and write a few sentences about the club, then you invite other players. As soon as six members have joined, the club is founded and its forum is opened.

As the founder you are an admin of the club. You can appoint further admins and moderators to help you.

Club pages

Every club can create its own pages, for everything that makes your club what it is. A welcome for new members, your rules, dates, the results of your last tournament or a nice game with a diagram. The page Start appears right on your club's overview, so it is the first thing visitors see.

The admins and moderators of the club can write pages. On the club page under Pages you find all pages and the link Edit page. A new page is created quickly, and if something goes wrong you simply bring back an older state via Versions. Deleted pages can be restored.

You write just as usual, paragraphs are plain text. For headings, bold text or lists there are a few simple characters, which the editor also inserts for you at the push of a button. Games, chess diagrams and player names can be embedded as well. How all of this works is described in the Markdown guide.
