Tournament Rules
Use of tools
It must be used no chess computer or engine to find the chess moves of the tournament games. Other aids, such as books, opening databases and the analysis board are allowed.
If an engine use by a participant is determined, that participant will be disqualified and is also disabled for the future Cup Tournaments. An engine usage can also be determined after the tournament is finished. This can lead to subsequent disqualification.
Conditions of participation
It can participate who has completed at least 30 games on chessmail, is for at least 90 days chessmail member and has not received a ban by the tournament direction. Each person may only participate with a maximum of one account (username) in each tournament.
Sections
The tournament has three sections that perform each independent competitions. These sections are:
- Hobby Players
- Advanced
- Experts
For the classification of participants into the sections the maximum rating of the last 90 days applies to the start of the tournament. The rating number range of the sections will be decided at tournament start.
Tournament mode
In the sections groups with a maximum of 5 players are formed. The players in the groups play against each other, two games with both colors. Group winners qualify for the next round. There may be more than one group winner.
Games are rated as follows. Win: 1 point, Draw: ½ point, Loss: 0 points.
Game mode
The games will start automatically with the following settings.
- Two games with both colors
- Kibitzing allowed
- Maximum thinking time: 3 days/move
- Rated game
You can make a pause during the tournament. Pauses are declared in the user settings.
Tournament direction
The tournament is mostly accomplished automatically. It will be directed by chessmail.
